Top 10 Kid Health Concerns of 2019

Happy New Year! I hope 2019 was as amazing for you as it was for me and the new year is off to a great start for your family. It’s common knowledge that most children are healthy and resilient, but last year posed some serious health challenges for kids and many have rolled right into 2020.

For this reason, I felt it important to address the top 10 kid health concerns of 2019 (in no particular order) based on my personal medical practice, the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) advocacy priorities and national media coverage of child and adolescent-related issues. Hopefully with the information and resources provided, you can make sure these problems don’t show up in your home. I hope you enjoy the year in review, 2019.

The episode covers:

-Measles Outbreak

-Youth Suicide

-Vaping Crisis

-Screen Time

-Gun Violence

-Immigrant Children

-Decline of Children Health Insurance Coverage

-Human Trafficking
