ADHD is a common childhood condition that affects children from all walks of like and from all around the world. In the US, nearly 11% of children 4-17 years of age have the diagnosis. Dr. Martine Solages, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, is back to discuss all about it with Dr. Candice on Episode 19.
She explains that children with ADHD have a medical disorder based in neurologic, developmental and even genetic origins which puts to rest the “bad kid” myth. She further outlines the process of appropriate evaluation to make the diagnosis. Then we wrap up with a primer on treatment modalities including therapy options and medications.
If you’re wondering about your child and ADHD or want to work better with a child with the condition, this episode is for you. You can also hear more expertise from Dr. Solages on Kiding Around with Dr. Candice Episode 11: Child Mental Wellness 101. Thanks Dr. Martine Solages!!!
