Social-emotional skills are just as important to learn in childhood as academics. As a pediatrician, I see many children struggling to behave and even getting suspended from school due to delays in emotional regulation. These children are often labeled “bad” when what they really need is help learning to express their feelings and navigating social conflict.
School Psychologist, Dr. Byron McClure joins me to empower parents with co-regulation and emotion coaching strategies to promote social emotional learning (SEL) in kids.
The episode covers:
-What SEL is and why it is so important
-How parents can promote SEL at home with their kids
-How parents can advocate for SEL at their child’s school

Thanks, Dr. Byron McClure!
