Ep. 94: Helping Kids With Grief and Loss

A recent study in Pediatrics showed that one U. S. child has lost a parent or caregiver for every four COVID-19 deaths, highlighting a hidden crisis within the pandemic. As a pediatrician, I’ve seen the impact of such loss and how families struggle through the grieving process.

Crystal Mullen-Johnson is back to share how to help kids with grief after loss.

The episode covers:

-How to have discussions about death with children

-The grieving process
-Recognizing the symptoms of grief in kids
-How parents/caregivers can help kids cope with grief and loss
-Role of schools/teachers, etc.

Thanks, Crystal Mullen-Johnson, LICSW, PIP, RPT!
