According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, nearly 3.94 million children have had COVID-19 infection as of May 20 with children accounting for 14% of all COVID cases. The pandemic also has impacted kids in various ways from personal illness and loss of loved ones to social and educational disruption. And now that many children are eligible for COVID vaccination, parents have many concerns about vaccinating their kids, how to manage mask wearing and resuming activities once vaccinated.
Pediatric Infectious Disease expert, Dr. Tina Tan joins me to update parents and caregivers on all things COVID-19 in kids. She says, “The pandemic is not over… and we continue to see COVID-19 in the pediatric population.”
The episode covers:

-COVID vaccine in kids and why it’s so important
-Side effects and potential long term effects of the vaccine
